This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies ChatNest uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It covers both the ChatNest platform itself and the chatbot widgets embedded on customer websites.
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They help websites remember you, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. Similar technologies include browser storage such as localStorage.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRAISESS | Essential (first-party cookie) | Keeps you signed in to the ChatNest dashboard and admin panel. Required for the platform to work. | Session — removed when you close the browser |
| crai_sid_<token> | Essential (browser localStorage, not a cookie) | Stored by the chatbot widget on your website to remember the visitor's conversation session. Required for the widget to continue a chat across page loads. Contains a pseudonymous identifier only — no name, email or IP. | Persistent — remains until cleared by the visitor or the widget is removed |
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies on the platform. If we introduce analytics or marketing tools in future, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.
If you embed a ChatNest chatbot on your website, the widget stores the session identifier described above in your visitors' browsers. Under UK law (PECR and UK GDPR), you are responsible for disclosing this in your own privacy and cookie notices. We recommend adding a line such as: "This site uses an AI chat widget that stores a session identifier in your browser to remember your conversation."
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change how cookies or similar technologies are used. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.
